3. A) This video uses intertextuality in order to make a comment on stereotypes about race. As a result, the audience can assume that the white man is speaking in a stereotypical black language as it is sometimes portrayed in other media. Some of the images used also stereotype blacks; for instance, the gang sign, the attire of the black couple, and the white mans view of their preferred vacation spot.
B) This video is more of an ontological comment on black racial stereotypes. He is going along with the stereotypes that blacks are lazy, watch TV, aren’t very concerned about getting a college education, and talk on the phone a lot. His ad is aimed towards a certain audience. He is also performing the stereotype in his improper way of speaking.
Both videos comment on racial stereotypes but with different approaches. The second video is ontological, the males in it performs and critiques black racial stereotypes at the same time. The first video draws from other texts to create stereotypes we recognize.
